The Summit of Champagne Castle

Summit of Champagne Castle
A deeply personal landscape project. As an avid hiking enthusiast i had attempted a reverse summit of champagne castle in a two day window before and came short of reaching our goal. Now, with a better route and great company we had attempted doing the forward approach over a three day trek.
Morale was kept high by loads of fun, silly poses while battling the dramatic weather changes. Powering through to our first camping spot for the evening under the summit. The weather changed from a roasting hot dry day to bucketing rain once we arrived at the infamous blind man's corner. Cold and soaked we pressed on to find the wonderful mountains had decided to return the clear skies to us.
Once we arrived at Keith Bush's Camp under the castle summit we had an incredible view back down the long valley we had just trek up with all our gear. That said the feeling of completing our first 22 km's of the three day journey felt wonderful and albiet we were all exhausted mood in the camp grounds couldn't be better.
Playing around with writing text's with a long exposure under a cloudy night's sky.

the incredible view from the top of the summit, Exhausted we hiked up without our gear burning in the sunlight and nearly getting lost the view was absolutely worth it.
The following three images are some of my favourites to communicate the incredible scale of this mountain range.

Whereas the summit's photographs were incredible, we made a small pact to keep those images for ourselves. The feeling when reaching the top of a near sheer 1.2 km ascent straight up was pure elation, and we've decided to be selfish enough to keep that to ourselves.
On the final day we woke up early, took our mandatory group shots and head back down on what was an absolutely beautiful day to finish off an incredible three day weekend.
Until I return I will forever miss these mountains :)
